Alison Griffin

Certified Nurse Practitioner

Alison Griffin, RN, MSN, NP-C completed her undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY, earning a Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Psychological Science. Alison practiced as a Registered Nurse, while earning her Masters in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner from Stony Brook University School of Nursing, Stony Brook, NY. She was awarded her NP-C in 2014 and has been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) since that time.

Alison spent her time as an RN practicing general and emergency medicine. After earning her Masters, she then transitioned into her role as an NP. Since that time, Alison’s goal has been to provide uncompromising, passionate, holistic care to assist her patients in identifying their healthcare needs and achieve their healthcare goals.

Alison has spent her early years as a NP gaining valuable experience in Primary Medicine. “I have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing Doctors, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants and I have gained so much valuable experience working in both the outpatient and inpatient environments. However, with all that I have learned, I have unfortunately, also identified many gaps in our current medical environment.” Through her experience, Alison has seen that ever-increasing demands placed on the primary care provider leaves both the patient and the provider yearning for more. “My hope here is to practice medicine as it was meant to be practiced. I would like to get to know each of my patients and create that special connection that will allow me to provide the kind of care that is necessary to make true, positive, long lasting changes and allow the patient to experience both improved mental and physical health.”

Alison provides a variety of options for holistic pain control and overall improved quality of life. “My hope is that each client we encounter can gain the confidence they need to take back control over their health and make the positive changes necessary to experience their best reality.”

In addition to growing her career over the past 10 years, Alison has also simultaneously grown her family. Alison lives in Marlboro, NJ and stays busy with her husband, four young children and two Goldendoodles!

Valerie Peña

Occupational Therapist

My name is Valerie Peña, I am an occupational therapist and I love what I do.  I chose this profession because I enjoy helping others regain their functioning to enable them to live their lives to the fullest.

I am a married mom of 3 grown children. I am also a therapy dog handler/trainer and a published author. I enjoy living a healthy, active lifestyle, as well as helping others to do the same.

I have 35 years of experience in the evaluation and treatment of the hand, the wrist, the shoulder, the neck, the lower back, as well as conditions contributing to acute/chronic pain, limitations affecting muscle strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, and core stability.

I believe that, to effectively treat and restore function in an individual, I need to look at the entire person and how his/her condition interferes with every aspect of daily life, and not merely focus on one area of the body.

I use clinically-proven, evidence-based assessments to accurately show baseline status and progress. I am skilled in the use of manual treatment techniques, therapeutic exercise, meaningful functional activities and physical agent modalities, as appropriate, to customize my treatment plans to the individual needs of my clients. This has shown to produce positive results in those I’ve treated throughout my years of practice.

I enjoy building a good rapport with my clients, based on mutual trust and respect, as I have found this to be a vital part in my clients’ overall success. I also enjoy teaching my clients so that they may take an active role in their recovery and treatment, as this is proven to yield the best results in the long-run.

My ideal client is someone who has a strong desire to regain function, enjoys learning, and is willing to partner with me to take an active role in his or her therapy program.

If this sounds like you, call the office today so that we can get started on helping you regain function to become your very best!
